James Newcomen's steam pumping engine of 1750
This is a non working copy of James Newcomen's steam pumping engine of 1750. The engine was only built as a model for Newcomen and resides in the Hunterian Museum in Glasgow. This model was built for the Science Museum in London.
A joint build with Peter of Invermodels, Nairn. Peter sketched while I measured the model in Glasgow. He then produced the beautiful wood work and associated parts, While I made all of the metal parts. Peter then” aged” everything to look like the original.
